Operation life of Yaouré gold mine in Côte d’Ivoire extended

Perseus has announced extension of operation life for Yaouré gold mine up to 2035 with a potential for further extension through additional discoveries.

Under the LoM plan, the firm will conduct an underground mining operation below the CMA Open Pit in addition to the existing CMA Open Pit and an expanded Yaouré Open Pit. This move represents a new venture for Perseus Mining, as their previous operations were all open-cut operations.

The Yaouré Gold Mine’s Ore Reserves now total 37.2 million tonnes of ore grading 1.73 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold, containing 2.07 million ounces (Moz) of gold from open pits and underground. Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources are estimated at 54.7 million tonnes grading 1.59 g/t gold, containing 2.80 Moz of gold, while Inferred Resources are estimated at 11.3 million tonnes grading 1.9 g/t gold, containing 0.70 Moz of gold. This indicates a significant gold resource at the mine.

The CMA Underground (UG) Ore Reserves are based on drilling to 185 meters below the base of the CMA open pit, with Inferred Mineral Resources extending to 350 meters below the base of the pit and remaining open down plunge and at depth. This suggests the potential for further exploration and expansion of the underground mining operations.

Perseus’s Managing Director and CEO, Jeff Quartermaine, highlighted that the extended life of the Yaouré Gold Mine aligns with the company’s corporate mission of generating benefits for stakeholders, including host governments and communities.
