Mabrouk Oil Field hits full production following a successful trial

Successful rehabilitation and testing programme paves the way for output to increase to 40,000 barrels per day, boosting Libya’s energy sector

Libya’s Mabrouk Oil Operations Company has announced that it has completed its trial period for operational and production capacity tests at the Mabrouk oil field. The trial started shortly after maintenance, development, and rehabilitation were completed, along with the installation of modern equipment.

During the trial period, production reached approximately 30,000 barrels per day of crude oil. Under the development strategy, actual production is expected to rise to 40,000 barrels per day. Cumulative output since the trial began has reached about 2.5 million barrels.

The success of this trial period is a big deal for Mabrouk because previously, the field sustained severe damage and went completely offline, leading many to doubt it could ever restart. However, now that the Mabrouk oil field has officially resumed full production capacity, it is clear that the efforts of dedicated employees and the vision of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) are aligned.

“This achievement represents more than just a return to production; it also highlights the NOC’s success in carrying out its plans to rehabilitate damaged oil assets and restore their operating capacity. In doing so, it supports the national economy while strengthening the sector’s stability and long-term sustainability,” read the statement from the NOC.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NOC, Eng. Masoud Suleman expressed his gratitude to all the team involved, including employees, engineers, technicians, and staff of the Mabrouk Oil Operations Company.

“They have set an outstanding example of dedication and commitment, and, with Allah’s help, have been instrumental in achieving this national accomplishment,” he said.

He also extended his gratitude to all entities that supported the rehabilitation and operational efforts, and to the generous Libyan people, whose well-being and prosperity remain the ultimate goal of all these endeavours.
