Chad suspends new mining prospecting authorisations
The suspension, communicated through Note circulaire n°008/2026, applies nationwide and will remain in place until further notice
Chad has suspended all new applications for mining prospecting authorisations across the country, according to Note circulaire n°008/2026 dated 11 September 2026, issued by the Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Geology, Fatima Haram Acyl.
The circular communicates the suspension to mining companies, economic operators and institutional partners and applies to new prospecting authorisations throughout Chad’s national territory.
This means that applications for authorisations to undertake mining exploration and prospecting activities will not be accepted until the suspension is lifted.
The government has not indicated a specific end date for the suspension, with the circular stating that it will remain in effect until further notice.
