Elcora to set up comprehensive mining plan for manganese in Morocco

Elcora Advanced Materials Corporation has announced it is setting up a comprehensive mining plan for manganese in Morocco.
The plans according to the company will under be the ‘Atlas Fox Deposit’ licence with Elcora’s local Moroccan team liaising on getting the last government requirements with plans to start production. The Atlas Fox Deposit was mined until the mid-1950s when the French rule in Morocco ended, leaving about 40 extracted manganese ore piles and numerous surface veins and pits on-site.

The plan will be based on detailed maps of the former French mine located on its concession allowing for faster and more efficient production. Heavy machinery and production equipment are already being shipped on-site.
Following negotiations with mining company Gold Lion, Elcora will retain 100 percent ownership of the manganese concession. In September, Gold Lion bought a 25 percent stake in the manganese permit under a $75,000 cash deal, among other terms.
The fastest growing export markets for Manganese Ore of Morocco between 2019 and 2020 were Namibia ($5.66M), China ($4.62M), and Germany ($477k). In 2020, Morocco exported $24.5M in Manganese Ore, making it the 14th largest exporter of Manganese Ore in the world. At the same year, Manganese Ore was the 121st most exported product in Morocco. The main destination of Manganese Ore exports from Morocco are: Namibia ($13.7M), China ($7.83M), Germany ($1.35M), Niger ($543k), and United States ($522k).
