Sibanye-Stillwater appoints Emma Chapman to lead investor relations

Experienced mining capital markets specialist Emma Chapman joins Sibanye-Stillwater to strengthen investor engagement and support long-term shareholder value creation

Sibanye-Stillwater has appointed experienced mining capital markets specialist Emma Chapman as its new Senior Vice President: Investor Relations, with effect from 1 September 2026.

Chapman joins the diversified mining group from Teck Resources, where she serves as Vice President: Investor Relations. She brings almost 15 years of experience in mining capital markets and investor relations, having advised boards and executive leadership teams on investor engagement, strategic positioning, capital allocation and shareholder value creation.

Her career spans several major international markets, including the JSE, NYSE, TSX and FTSE, supported by a background in accounting and corporate finance.

At Teck Resources, Chapman has overseen investor relations during a period of significant corporate transformation and portfolio repositioning. Before that, she spent nearly a decade at Anglo American Platinum as Head of Investor Relations and ESG, helping strengthen the company’s investment proposition while expanding its international shareholder base.

Earlier in her career, she worked in corporate broking and investment banking at Citigroup before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers’ corporate finance division, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Chapman also holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Bath and has completed the Programme for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.

She succeeds James Wellsted, who has transitioned to Sibanye-Stillwater’s Group Transformation Office as Executive Vice President: Business Analytics and Improvement. In his new role, Wellsted will support the implementation of the group’s simplified operating model, enhance business planning processes and strengthen benchmarking initiatives aimed at improving operational performance and delivering sustainable value.

Wellsted has led Sibanye-Stillwater’s investor relations function for the past 13 years and will continue contributing to the company’s strategic execution through his new position.

Commenting on the appointment, Sibanye-Stillwater CEO Richard Stewart said Chapman had earned an outstanding reputation within the global mining investment community.

“Emma has built an exceptional reputation across the global mining investment community through her deep industry expertise, strategic insight and ability to engage effectively with investors and stakeholders across multiple capital markets,” Stewart said.

He added that her experience would strengthen the company’s engagement with investors as it continues to focus on long-term shareholder value creation.
