Oriole one step closer to gold mining licence in Cameroon

Cameroon’s ministry of environment, nature, protection and sustainable development approved, gold exploration company, Oriole Resources’ environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) for its Bibemi gold project in that country.
“The approval of the ESIA for Bibemi is a major achievement as it is a prerequisite for government approval for the exploitation licence,” says Martin Rosser, CEO of Oriole, adding, “We look forward to the intensification of the exploitation licence application process and negotiations in the next few months.
“In addition, we will soon be providing an update on the preliminary economic assessment and supporting technical studies,” Rosser concluded.
Oriole owns a 90% stake in the Bibemi project. The impact assessment study at Bibemi started in 2023, with the report submitted to the ministry in March 2025 and formal public hearings and stakeholder engagement successfully completed in June 2025.
The gold exploration company expects its licence application to be approved by the Government of Cameroon by the end of its second quarter in the 2025/2026 financial year.
