DRC mining week slated for June

The DRC Mining Week 2024 is scheduled to take place from June 12th to June 14th 2024 at the Hotel Pullman Lubumbashi Grand Karavia in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo.

This event is a significant gathering for the mining industry in the DRC, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders including government officials, industry leaders, and experts to discuss and explore opportunities within the sector.

The conference is supported by the Ministry of Mines and the Federation of Congolese Enterprises (FEC). It aims to foster collaboration and provide insights into the latest developments and innovations in the mining industry.

Objective

The event will feature numerous speakers from various sectors, including commercial banking, international investment facilitation, power engineering, and human rights advocacy, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of mining and its impacts.

Attendees can expect a diverse range of activities, including panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions showcasing the latest products and services related to mining and industrial technology. The event will also serve as a platform for networking, allowing participants to connect with key players in the industry from around the globe.

The mining industry of the Democratic Republic of the Congo produces copper, diamonds, tantalum, tin, gold, and more than 63% of global cobalt production. Minerals and petroleum are central to the DRC’s economy, making up more than 95% of the value of its exports.

The mining industry in the DRC mainly consists of private, large industrial mines, semi-industrial, and artisanal mines. While private sectors take on large operations, they rely heavily on artisanal mining for extraction of resources.
