Séguéla gold project nears completion

Works at the Séguéla gold project are at 83% done. Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. said they are still on target for mid 2023 for the first gold pour.

The Seguela gold project is an open-pit mining development located in the western part of Cote d’Ivoire. Canadian gold miner Roxgold owns a 90% interest in the property, while the remaining 10% is held by the Government of Cote d’Ivoire.

Fortuna began construction of ramp-up to name plate capacity of 3,750 tpd in 2021 is expected in the third quarter of 2023. Current works done include: Civil and concrete works nearing completion with handover of the SAG mill pedestals to the SMP contractor complete. Carbon-in-leach (CIL) tank fabrication and hydrostatic / settlement has been completed while also assembly of the water tanks and hydrostatic testing completed.

Scope of work

Erection of the reagents storage building, warehouse and workshop are done while structural steel erected in the crushing, surge bin and milling and grinding areas, mechanical equipment installations commenced for items such as the thickener, intensive leach reactor, and apron feeder installation of conveyors underway. Fabrication of steel pipe spools have commenced.

The delivery and installation of the SAG mill remains on the project’s critical path and, despite global supply chain challenges and risks, all components have been shipped and are expected to be delivered to site before the end of the year.

Construction of the HV substation is approximately 97% complete. Work is on-track for the energization of the substation in December 2022 ahead of commissioning activities at the processing plant.
