Petra Diamonds’ absent FY2026 results could de-list it from the London Stock Exchange

Petra Diamonds is at a risk of having its shares suspended from trading on the London Stock Exchange from 2 November following delays in auditing its financial statements

While most companies have published their FY2026 results, Petra Diamonds is still uncertain whether it will meet the deadline for the financial year ended June 30, 2026.

To continue trading on the London Stock Exchange, listed companies are expected to publish their annual financial reports by the October 31, 2026, deadline.

Petra, however, has said it does not expect to have its report ready by then.

On October 22, the company announced that its audit was still in progress, with certain procedures outstanding before it could finalise its consolidated financial statements.

If Petra doesn’t submit its report within the next two day, the company will have its shares suspended from listing and trading at 07:30 UK time on 2 November 2026. The suspension will remain in place until the audit is completed and the 2026 annual report and accounts are published.

This is not the first financial issue that Petra has face this year. The company had to place its Finsch Diamond Mine under business rescue.

Petra’s financial instability not only affects the company, but South Africa’s diamond sector as whole. It is also not an isolated case because in July this year, South Africa’s largest diamond producer, De Beers, announced that it would pause production at Venetia for two years.

Petra said there is no certainty over when the suspension will be lifted and trading in its shares will resume.
