Pasofino Gold completes drilling at Bukon Jedeh in Liberia
Pasofino Gold Limited has completed drilling works at the Bukon Jedeh ‘gold camp’ within the Company’s Dugbe Gold Project, Liberia.
Warren Greenslade, Pasofino Interim CEO made the announcement and credited the smooth operation was as a result good relationships with local communities. He expressed optimism about the visual results and the potential for high-grade gold based on existing evidence.
Bukon Jedeh
The Bukon Jedeh area has been a significant site for gold production in Liberia for decades, mainly through informal mining. Past exploration by Equator Resources Limited in 2012 included reverse circulation (RC) drilling but did not cover the most productive pits developed afterward.
The program involved drilling 11 holes totaling 1,328 meters across a 4 km long area, targeting key mining sites, historic drill intersections, and new promising intervals identified by sulphide mineral abundance.
Several holes encountered multi-meter wide intervals of pyroxene gneiss with sulphide minerals, similar to the gold-hosting lithology at the nearby Tuzon and Dugbe F deposits. A significant east-west trending zone, the SPMC-99 Steps trend, potentially linking two major pits, was identified. This trend had not been previously drilled and is 1.5 km long.
Sampling is 50% complete, with the first batch of samples to be sent to the lab in early June and results expected in July 2024. The drilling focused on three main areas: Main Ridge, SPMC-99 Steps trend, and 99-Steps South, with each area showing promising indications of mineralizati.
The drilling utilized diamond coring by Cestos Drilling Liberia. Geological mapping and ground magnetic surveys guided hole placements, revealing southward and northward dipping rock fabric, indicating a fold hinge trend. Sulphide-bearing zones were found in over half of the drill holes, with zones up to tens of meters thick within pyroxene-bearing gneiss. Laboratory analyses will be conducted at ALS in Ghana, with results anticipated in July 2024.
