New high-grade gold zone discovered at Kibi project in Ghana

A new new high-grade gold zone at depth has been discovered at Kibi project in Ghana. Xtra-Gold Resources who made the discovery said this finding is beyond the limits of the 2021 resource footprint.

The Kibi gold project is situated on the Kibi-Winneba greenstone belt, approximately 75 km north of Accra, the capital of Ghana. The project covers an area of 33.7 square kilometers. The discovery dubbed Boomerang Deep was as a result of the latest drill results that across 370 meters of cross-plunge.

The down-plunge continuity of the main Lower Shoot gold zone has also been further defined. In Boomerang Deep, drill hole KBDD23536 cut 9 meters grading 9.29 grams of gold per tonne, including 4.5 meters at 16.94 grams from a depth of 400 meters.

In the Lower Shoot zone, drill hole KBDD23530 returned 56 meters grading 1.4 grams gold, including 20 meters at 2.54 grams gold from 166 meters down hole. Another hole, KBDD23536, cut 50 meters at 1.28 grams gold, including 22 meters at 1.93 grams gold from a depth of 258 meters.

Xtra-Gold Resources’ President and CEO, James Longshore, expressed encouragement about the promising drill results. He highlighted the good down-plunge continuity in mineralization and the expansion of the Boomerang gold system with the discovery of a new high-grade gold zone at depth.

The drill results are part of an aggressive initiative focusing on multiple resource expansion targets in the southwest Zone 3 portion. The program extended the Lower Shoot mineralization by about 100 meters further down-dip at the system’s northeast.

The results are from 12 diamond core boreholes totaling 4,108 meters. As part of the ongoing Zone 3 resource expansion drill program, a total of 132 holes for 26,968.5 meters have been reported to date. Current Resource Estimates: As of November 2021, the project hosts 13.9 million indicated tonnes grading 1.4 grams of gold for 623,700 ounces of gold. Additionally, there are 5.6 million inferred tonnes grading 0.96 gram of gold for 180,700 ounces of gold.
