The 6th Mining On Top Africa (MOTA) conference is scheduled to take place on July 12th and 13th, 2023, at The Westin Paris – Vendome in Paris, France.
This conference brings together influential figures from the mining industry in Africa, serving as a strategic platform for stakeholders from Europe to connect with mineral and metal exploration companies in Africa. The main objective of the event is to foster collaboration and partnerships for sustainable mining across the continent.
The conference will feature representatives from several African countries known for their mining potential, including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), Mali, Niger, Senegal, Zambia, Cote D’Ivoire, and Guinea. These countries will have dedicated country spotlight sessions to showcase their mineral resources and advancements in sustainable mining practices.
MOTA 2023
The MOTA conference serves as an ideal meeting place for government officials seeking in-country investment, mining companies interested in new projects, and explorers looking to raise capital. This year’s edition will see participation from over 50 organizations. Distinguished government officials expected to headline the conference include Hon. Samou Seidou Adambi, Minister of Water and Mines of Benin; Mme. Ousseini Hadizatou Yacouba, Minister of Mines of the Republic of Niger; and Hon. Oumar Sarr, Minister of Mines and Geology of Senegal.
In addition to government representatives, participants will include mining and exploration companies, investors, and industry experts. The conference theme, “Mining Tomorrow,” will explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapidly growing global demand for critical minerals and the corresponding need for increased mining investment to achieve sustainable development. Key stakeholders will have the opportunity to showcase their vision, plans, recent policy updates, successful projects, and efforts to attract investment interest in African mining.
Prominent sessions at the conference will include a Keynote Panel Session on Africa’s Mining Vision, which will examine future perspectives, challenges, and opportunities. High-level sector representatives will discuss creating dynamic cross-continental mineral supply chains in Africa, promoting local value addition, exploring cost-effective energy sources, and attracting investors amidst political uncertainty.
Other sessions will address the burgeoning demand for mining capital in Africa, available investment and funding opportunities, and the reforms necessary to catalyze financing. The Future of Europe’s and Africa’s Mining Partnership will also be a focal point, where participants from both continents will define priorities for commodity security, attracting foreign investment, and partnerships in training, technology, and innovation. The conference program will include panel discussions, case studies, and networking opportunities.
