Morocco to host first international mining congress

The Morocco International Mining Congress (IMC Morocco) will take place on December 3-4, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco.

Organized by the Mining Federation of Industrial Minerals of Morocco (FDIM) and AME Trade Ltd., this event will focus on Morocco’s role as a global hub for sustainable mining. Supported by the Ministry of Energy Transition & Sustainable Development, IMC Morocco will bring together key players in the mining sector, such as ONHYM, Managem, Aya Gold and Silver, and others, along with leading service providers like Liebherr, EPIROC, and Vulkan.

Event features

The congress will feature a two-day business conference, interactive sessions, and workshops, alongside a trade exhibition and technical visits to major mining projects. The event will focus on mining investment frameworks, reforms in the sector, sustainable practices, and Morocco’s ambition to double its non-phosphate mining revenue to over $1.7 billion by 2030.

Morocco’s significant mineral wealth includes phosphates, cobalt, copper, gold, and others. With three-quarters of the planet’s known phosphate reserves, Morocco is the world’s top phosphate exporter. Additionally, with its cobalt reserves, Morocco aims to play a central role in the global battery minerals supply chain, particularly for the growing electric vehicle (EV) battery industry.

IMC Morocco aims to promote synergies between mining and energy, enhance on-site processing of minerals, and develop sustainable mining practices, positioning Morocco as a leader in African mining investment.
