Montage Gold awarded mining permit for Koné project

Côte d’Ivoire’s Council of Ministers has granted Montage Gold Corp. mining permit for the Koné project to Montage.
De Ciccio, CEO of Montage confirmed the report and said it marks a crucial step forward in the development of the Koné project, reflecting strong local stakeholder support for Montage’s approach, particularly emphasizing local content and community engagement.
The CEO expressed his delight at receiving the mining permit, highlighting its importance in advancing the project. He also noted the successful negotiation of land compensation agreements with local communities, underscoring further local support crucial for the project’s social and economic benefits.
Koné project
Looking ahead, Montage plans to accelerate the development of the Koné project, aiming for a construction launch by Q1-2025. Additionally, the company continues to pursue its exploration strategy to identify higher-grade targets that can enhance the project’s operational efficiency from the outset.
Montage was also granted mining permits for its Gbongogo deposits, each with specific durations and opportunities for extension based on exploration success. These permits are integral to Montage’s strategic vision of becoming a leading African gold producer, leveraging Côte d’Ivoire’s favorable investment climate and significant geological potential, complemented by the company’s extensive regional experience.
Overall, the awarding of these mining permits represents the final governmental authorization needed for Montage to proceed with the development and operation of the Koné project, with official documentation expected shortly following the Council of Ministers’ decision.
