Marula set for exploration, mine planning at Blesberg mine in South Africa

Marula Mining is set for an exploration and mining program at the Blesberg lithium and tantalum mine in South Africa. This program aims to explore and extract valuable minerals from the site, with the support of funding from Q Global Mining.

Blesberg project

The Blesberg project contains significant mineral deposits, including spodumene concentrate (containing lithium), tantalite, feldspar, bismuth, beryl, and mica. The location has historically been the largest source of tantalum in South Africa.

Samples from 2016 indicated lithium oxide deposits with concentrations ranging from 1.27% to 6.42%. The project encompasses several activities, including an airborne geophysics study covering the prospecting license and new license areas, diamond drilling (38 holes totaling 2,900 meters), exploration trenching, geological modeling, open-pit mine design, initial mining works, slope stability assessments, groundwater and geohydrology studies, and environmental management studies.

An airborne geophysics study will cover the Blesberg prospecting license and an additional 1,200 km² area. This study aims to gather geological and geophysical data to inform further exploration and planning. The project’s funding was established through a partnership agreement announced in January of the same year. Q Global agreed to provide US $4.76M in exchange for the issuance of up to one billion shares in Marula Mining.  Marula Mining’s CEO, Jason Brewer, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s progress and highlighted the importance of the partnership with Q Global Commodities in enabling these commitments and advancements.
