Koryx Copper completes Haib drilling programme, advances updated resource estimate
The completion of an infill and expansion drilling programme at Namibia's Haib Copper Project marks an important step towards updating its mineral resource estimate and completing a Pre-Feasibility Study, with both deliverables expected before the end of 2026
Koryx Copper S.A. has announced assay results from 18 drill holes, covering a total of 7,074 metres, received as part of its infill and expansion drilling programme at the wholly owned Haib Copper Project in southern Namibia.
The results form part of the company’s ongoing work to improve its understanding of the deposit and provide additional geological information for mine planning. The drilling programme has now been completed, with the technical team turning its attention to geological modelling and the preparation of an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) and Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS).
Haib is a large, disseminated porphyry copper-molybdenum-gold (Cu-Mo-Au) deposit. Koryx is evaluating its development as a large-scale open-pit operation, using conventional sulphide milling and flotation to produce copper and molybdenum concentrates.
The deposit’s scale and geological characteristics make it a significant copper development project in Namibia, where the company is working towards establishing the technical and economic parameters required to advance it towards a potential mining operation.
Drilling provides further geological information
The latest assay results add to the information gathered through the broader drilling campaign, which was designed to support both infill and expansion work. Infill drilling helps improve the understanding of mineralisation within known areas of the deposit, while expansion drilling investigates its extent beyond previously defined zones.
According to Koryx, the latest results continue to show wide mineralised intercepts across the Haib deposit, alongside higher-grade zones closer to surface. These results are particularly relevant to Target Area 3, where the proposed mine plan is scheduled to commence.
The presence of higher-grade mineralisation near surface is an important consideration in the development of an open-pit operation, as the distribution and grade of the mineralisation will influence how the mine is designed and sequenced. However, the updated resource estimate and ongoing technical studies will provide a more complete picture of the deposit and its potential development.
Commenting on the latest results, Heye Daun, President and CEO of Koryx Copper, said the drilling continued to confirm the broad mineralised zones identified in previous work.
“This release covers assay results from a further 18 drill holes totalling 7,074m. Consistent with our prior results, we continue to see very wide intercepts across the Haib deposit, together with some notably higher-grade zones near surface, and this set of results demonstrates this well, particularly within Target Area 3 where the mine plan is scheduled to begin.
“With the infill and expansion drilling program now complete, our technical team is focused on completing the geological modelling and estimation work required for the updated MRE and PFS, both of which remain on track for publication before the end of 2026.”
With drilling complete, the next stage of work will involve incorporating the new results into the geological model and assessing their implications for the project’s updated mineral resource estimate.
The MRE will provide an updated assessment of the quantity and distribution of mineral resources at Haib, while the PFS will examine the technical and economic considerations associated with developing the project. These studies will be important in determining the next steps towards a potential development decision.
