Kodal Minerals produce first spodumene concentrate at Bougouni project

Kodal Minerals has hit a key milestones, producing first spodumene concentrate at its flagship Bougouni Lithium Project in Southern Mali.

The progress which was made ahead of schedule during commissioning of the full Stage 1 Dense Media Separation (DMS) processing plant, with a high-grade output of 5.53% Li₂O, is a great sign for their operational efficiency.

This initial spodumene concentrate production paves the way for the ramp up of the DMS processing plant to nameplate capacity in the coming weeks. Commissioning continues with the review of the processing circuits, including balancing of the pegmatite ore feed input and the density loading of the DMS units. Construction costs remain within the US$65 million capital development budget, with only minor optimisation works remaining.

350,000+ tonnes of ore at 1.17% Li₂O are prepped for processing, ensuring a steady feed for operations. With mining and processing now continuous, the project is shifting into full-scale production mode. The firm plans to send lithium spodumene concentrate to Hainan by the end of the quarter show their commitment to commercialization.

Kodal’s CEO seems optimistic about reaching their 10,000 t/month production target, and the final regulatory steps (like the mining decree) appear to be progressing well. If they maintain this momentum, Bougouni could become a key lithium producer in the region.
