Kamoto Copper Company marks National Parents’ Day with heartfelt workplace safety campaign

Employees' children remind underground miners that every safe shift means coming home to the people who matter most

DRC based mining firm, Kamoto Copper Company (KCC), celebrated National Parents’ Day on August 1 with a moving workplace safety initiative that brought the children of employees working at the Kamoto underground mine to their parents’ workplace.

The special ceremony centred on KCC’s Wall of Handprints, where children delivered a heartfelt message to their parents, highlighting the importance of making safety the top priority every day.

“Mom, Dad, take the time to work safely and come home to us safe and sound every day.”

Following the message, the children left their colourful handprints on a dedicated wall, creating a lasting symbol of the people who inspire employees to return home safely after every shift.

According to KCC, the initiative reinforces the idea that every decision made in favour of workplace safety is a promise to return home safely to loved ones.

The company said the campaign serves as a reminder that behind every employee is a family waiting for them.

“Welcome home,” the message concludes, reflecting the hope shared by every family that their loved ones will return safely at the end of each working day.
