Giyani Metals Corp to advance HPMSM Plant in Botswana

Giyani Metals Corp. advancing the K.Hill battery-grade manganese project in Botswana, has secured a 50-year Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Investor License for its Commercial Plant. Awarded to its subsidiary, Thabatala Technology Company, this license marks a critical step towards the project’s development.
The Commercial Plant, designated as a Single Factory SEZ, will be situated near the K.Hill manganese mine in Kanye, Botswana. The license reflects strong support from Botswana’s government and underscores Giyani’s commitment to sustainable economic growth and the global supply of critical battery materials.
SEZ License
Approval was finalized following an extensive review process. The SEZ License supports the construction of Giyani’s Demo Plant and future development of the Commercial Plant. Charles FitzRoy emphasized the transformative nature of the SEZ License, highlighting both economic and operational advantages. He reiterated the company’s commitment to sustainability and local economic inclusion, including empowering local businesses and communities.
Giyani is developing sustainable, low-carbon, high-purity manganese for EV batteries. With financing of USD 26 million from ARCH Sustainable Resources Fund LP and the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, the company aims to complete a Definitive Feasibility Study and advance to construction in 2025. This milestone reinforces Giyani’s position as a key player in the global EV supply chain and Botswana’s growing prominence in critical mineral production.
