GEITA Gold Mine Limited scoops awards at Investment Tanzania 2023 conference

GEITA Gold Mine Limited (GGML) received recognition and awards for its outstanding efforts in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), environmental protection, and workplace health and safety at the International Mining and Investment Tanzania 2023 conference in Dar es Salaam. This marks the fifth consecutive time that GGML has been honored with these awards.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Doto Biteko, commended GGML for its commitment to funding community projects, emphasizing that this demonstrates maturity in improving the welfare and livelihoods of citizens. The company’s dedication to promoting the welfare of its workers and protecting the environment was acknowledged by Mr. Anthony Mavunde, the Minister for Minerals, who stressed the responsibility of all employers to ensure the safety of workers and contribute to the community.
Commitments
Malawi’s Minister for Mines, Monica Chang’anamuno, expressed admiration for GGML’s professionalism in the mining industry and its positive impact on the local community. She mentioned that Malawi can learn from Tanzania’s mining policies and practices and praised GGML for sponsoring the conference, which attracted stakeholders from various countries.
GGML Managing Director, Terry Strong, attributed the company’s success in winning the awards to their adherence to mining policies, their commitment to environmental protection, and their focus on workplace health and safety. He highlighted the importance of recognizing the significance of mining laws and responsibilities to society, as well as their dedication to protecting the environment and the well-being of their workers.
