Fortuna Mining release report for Séguéla gold mine in Côte d’Ivoire

Fortuna Mining announced a significant update to its mineral reserve and resource estimates at the Séguéla mine in Côte d’Ivoire, which officially entered production in May 2023.
The Seguela gold project is an open-pit mining development located in the western part of Cote d’Ivoire. The Cote d’Ivoirean gold project is located within the Woroba District, approximately 500km from Abidjan. The property encompasses two exploration permits that cover an area of approximately 74,035ha.
CEO Jorge Ganoza who made the announcement noted that new inferred resources increased by over 500,000 gold ounces, bringing the total inferred resources to 677,000 ounces. Inferred mineral resource at the Kingfisher Deposit was 4 million tonnes at an average grade of 2.29 g/t gold, amounting to 294,000 ounces. There is potential for further growth as the deposit remains open along strike and at depth.
Mining potential
At the Badior Deposit, inferred mineral resource was 470,000 tonnes at an average grade of 4.05 g/t gold, amounting to 61,000 ounces while additional underground resource of 141,000 ounces was unveiled from Sunbird Deposit.
According to the firm, ongoing drilling aims to mitigate production depletion and expand reserves. Additional drilling in 2025 will focus on further defining and expanding the new deposits. Senior VP of Exploration, Paul Weedon, highlighted the Kingfisher deposit as a key discovery with substantial growth potential and noted ongoing exploration across Séguéla’s 62,000-hectare property.
Fortuna’s ability to identify and develop new resources highlights the strong growth potential of the Séguéla mine. The company’s strategic focus on exploration and resource expansion positions it well to sustain and potentially increase production levels in the coming years.
