Epiroc acquires Weco Proprietary Limited

Epiroc has announced it has acquires Weco Proprietary Limited, a South African manufacturer of precision-engineered rock drilling parts and provider of related repairs and services. This is a strategic expansion efforts, aiming to bolster their manufacturing capabilities and broaden their product offerings in key markets.

According to Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO, the acquisition not only enhances Epiroc’s presence in Africa but also augments its spare parts portfolio. With Weco’s established reputation and extensive experience serving underground mining companies in the Southern African region, Epiroc gains access to a skilled workforce and valuable insights into the local market.

The transaction is not subject to a disclosure obligation pursuant to the EU Market Abuse Regulation. In April, Epiroc also completed the acquisition of Stanley Infrastructure from Stanley Black & Decker Inc. The strategic acquisition aims to strengthen Epiroc’s presence in the attachments business in infrastructure and construction, particularly in the United States.

Epiroc’s achievement with their autonomous drill rigs is impressive! Surpassing 41 million meters of drilled holes is not just a remarkable feat in itself, but the fact that it exceeds the Earth’s circumference demonstrates the scale of their impact. The reduction of over 100,000 tonnes of CO2e emissions underscores the significant environmental benefits of utilizing autonomous technology in mining and construction operations.
