Corica Mali awarded contract for Goulamina Lithium Project

Leo Lithium has awarded the Mining Services contract for the Goulamina Lithium Project in Mali to Corica Mali, a subsidiary of Corica Mining Services.
The contract valued at approximately $US348 million includes six months of pre-production activities at Goulamina, followed by a fixed five-year term. It was awarded after a competitive tender process and extensive due diligence, which considered factors such as safety, experience, capability, equipment availability, and cost.

The scope of the contract includes grade control, drill and blast, load and haul, and plant ore feed services for Leo Lithium. The planned material movement target is between 18 million to 20 Mtpa over the term. Corica has already mobilized to the site under an early works contract and is currently engaged in pre-strip and Direct Shipped Ore (DSO) mining and crushing services. With over 20 years of successful operations in the West African region, Corica has a strong track record and employs over 2,000 people. They provide mining services to several leading mining companies listed on the ASX and TSX, operating across Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso.
Simon Hay, the Managing Director of Leo Lithium, expressed his satisfaction with the appointment of Corica as the mining services contractor. He highlighted Corica’s long history and strong presence in Mali, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on local employment and supplier opportunities in the region. With the mining contractor now secured, Leo Lithium is closer to achieving its goal of producing first spodumene concentrate in the first half of 2024. The collaboration with Corica will begin with DSO activities in the current quarter.
