Day one of the 13th Namibia Mining Expo & Conference saw industry stakeholders, experts and suppliers gather at the Windhoek Showgrounds to discuss the future of the country’s mining sector.
The event, taking place from August 4-6 under the theme Driving Local Empowerment through Procurement and Economic Inclusion, is bringing together companies and organisations to showcase solutions that support the industry’s growth.
Speaking on behalf of the Namibia Chamber of Mines, CEO Fabian Shanika said safety must extend beyond the workplace and become part of everyday behaviour.
“Our focus will shift into simply managing safety and cultivating a safety culture within our organisations. Safety does not end when our workforce clocks out at the end of the shift. The commute is just as critical as the pit or the plant,” he said.
Connectivity provider Paratus Namibia is also exhibiting at the conference, highlighting the importance of reliable communications in modern mining operations.
