Aterian Plc confirms copper potential in Atlas region in Morocco

Aterian Plc, has confirmed potential copper mineralization in the Atlas region in Morocco. Charles Bray, Chairman of Aterian announced that significant findings from its reconnaissance missions in Akka and West Tazalaght Projects yielded the evidence.

These projects were awarded to the company in August 2023, strategically located within the western Anti-Atlas Mountains. The projects are part of Aterian’s extensive 897 square-kilometer portfolio in Morocco, with a combined area of 74.5 square kilometers.

Geological characteristics

Reports indicate a promising copper grade of 3.93%. Moreover, the geographical positioning of these projects in central Morocco, within the western Anti-Atlas region, suggests the potential for sedimentary-hosted copper mineralization.

The region’s geological characteristics, along with its proximity to existing mining infrastructure and operational mines, enhance the economic viability of Aterian’s ventures, according to the company. Charles Bray, expressed optimism about the preliminary findings, stating that they align with the company’s exploration strategies in the Anti-Atlas region. He emphasized Aterian’s dedication to advancing exploration efforts in Morocco, highlighting plans for systematic prospecting programs aimed at fully unlocking the projects’ potential.

Bray also noted Morocco’s emergence as a preferred destination for global mining and manufacturing companies looking to access the EU and USA markets with preferential trade status. He highlighted the company’s acquisition of valuable geological knowledge in the area and ongoing positive results from exploration fieldwork on various key projects in Morocco.
