Akobo Minerals strives in strategic gold mine development

Akobo Minerals has achieved a significant milestone in its gold mining operations in Ethiopia by successfully intersecting the ore body in the prospect drive near the Eastern Winze area. This marks a crucial step in the company’s broader strategy for developing the Segele mine, as the intersection is key to advancing future production capabilities.

The primary focus has been on the comprehensive development of the Eastern Winze, with particular attention to the prospect drive that will eventually connect the Eastern and Western Winzes. This connection is expected to enhance ore extraction rates, facilitate the startup of stoping operations, and improve mine safety by providing two exits. Additionally, the improved connection will support more efficient ventilation, contributing to safer and more effective mining operations.

Potential

The strategic positioning of the Eastern Winze at a lower elevation is expected to optimize the conditions for future ore extraction, particularly as the company advances towards the first trial stope and the highly promising Stope 01.

Following successful commissioning activities, Akobo Minerals is now capable of gold production from the Segele mine, with ongoing development and regular blasting efforts set to progress further into the ore body. Akobo Minerals continues to focus on responsible and strategic mining practices, aiming to deliver long-term value to its stakeholders as it moves closer to full-scale production
