The total yield of 2,833 grams of gold and the production of a second gold bar, weighing around 1.5 kg with a grade of 15 g/t, showcases the operation’s potential as it moves toward steady-state production. This milestone comes as Akobo accelerates its ramp-up phase, aiming to achieve a production rate sufficient to cover operational expenses.
Helge Rushfeldt, Akobo’s Head of Mining Operations, is guiding the on-site team, reporting strong efficiency and focus, which is expected to support upcoming throughput increases in November. The company’s optimisation efforts target not only higher tonnage but also maximised gold output. In line with these goals, Akobo has bolstered its workforce by adding specialists in mining operations and supply chain management, which is expected to enhance overall productivity and efficiency. Additionally, the support of Sutton Global, an established mining and processing services provider, further strengthens Akobo’s operational capabilities, positioning the company for continued growth in Ethiopia’s emerging gold sector.
