Akobo Minerals issues operational update

Akobo Minerals AB has provided an operational update for February 2025. The firm produced 1.3 kg of gold, bringing the total cumulative output to 18.6 kg.
The lower production in February resulted from mining lower-grade ore, which reflects the natural variability of the deposit. Despite this fluctuation, the company maintains confidence in its geological model. However, the inconsistent nature of the ore body continues to affect extraction rates and processing efficiency.
Progress
Mining operations remained stable throughout February, demonstrating consistent performance. The company is actively working on developing three stopes from the winzes at different locations within the deposit. Once opened, these stopes are expected to provide access to higher-grade ore, which should enhance overall production rates.
Akobo Minerals has strengthened its partnership with Sutton Global by securing additional resources for the project. The company has appointed Kobus Byleveldt, a mining engineer with over 40 years of experience, as the Project and Site Manager. Byleveldt will oversee site activities and lead the planning and execution of the sink shaft project, reinforcing the company’s operational strategy.
Progress on the sink shaft project remains on track. A team from Sutton Global is currently working on detailed planning, including the mine plan, headgear design, project costing, and preparations for site work. Akobo Minerals remains focused on enhancing production efficiency and scaling up operations as the project advances.
