Aclara to advance in AI rare earth mining
Aclara Resources Inc. has announced a significant milestone in advancing rare earth element (REE) exploration through the application of artificial intelligence (AI). The company’s Chilean subsidiary, REE Uno, secured a US$730,000 research, development, and innovation grant from CORFO (Chilean Economic Development Agency), boosting the project’s total funding to approximately US$1 million when combined with Aclara’s investment.
The initiative focuses on leveraging advanced machine learning models to revolutionize exploration, especially for REEs in ionic clay deposits. By integrating geological and geospatial data into a centralized database, Aclara’s AI technology enables real-time analysis of large datasets. This approach aims to identify high-potential exploration targets with unprecedented efficiency, reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
Features
Key features of the initiative include; AI-driven Multi-variable Models that analyze complex geological data from both internal sources and third parties. It will have Real-time Data Integration for dynamic analysis. The system significantly cuts down the time and resources required to pinpoint exploration targets while minimizing ecological disruption.
Aclara’s CEO, Ramón Barúa, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to innovation, stating that this technology has already proven its capability in identifying promising exploration zones. Barúa noted that the CORFO grant will accelerate the development of these AI models, reinforcing Aclara’s efforts to maintain a competitive edge and expand its portfolio through greenfield exploration.
“These models have already successfully identified and defined exploration targets within timeframes and costs that were unthinkable without these high-tech tools. We are very excited about the possibilities that open-up to Aclara through the use of AI technologies,” said Ramón Barúa.
