Egypt opens gold mining lab

The government of Egypt has inaugurated a gold mining laboratory. Egypt’s Petroleum Minister, Tarek El Molla, led the opening ceremony.

The facility is designed for preparing and analyzing samples extracted from mines at the Um Rus Mine area in Marsa Alam. The focus is to examine gold ores and associated minerals. Minister El Molla emphasized the state’s interest in developing the mining sector, attracting both national and international investments.

Vision

The vision to develop the mining sector, initiated in 2018, aimed to create flexibility, accelerate company operations, and contribute added value and returns to the national economy. El Molla highlighted that state-led reforms are aimed at creating an investment-friendly environment. He urged quick implementation of investments and plans to promote business development and management in the concession area.

The Chairman of Nubian Mining Company, Issam Khorani, affirmed the company’s commitment to its investments in Egypt. He presented the results of the first phase of exploration, indicating a total expenditure of $4.5 billion on facilities, infrastructure, geological data maps, and research in the concession area.

Nubian Mining Company is reported to be on the right track in accelerating the exploitation of mineral wealth, aiming to increase returns on the national economy and contribute to sustainable development plans.

The Director of Research and Exploration at Nubian Mining Company, Attia Makhlouf, briefed Minister El Molla on the company’s geological and structural mapping, surface surveys of reservoirs and wells, and the use of advanced 3D scanning technologies for underground tunnels in the Umm al-Rus area.
