New Wabtec Digital Mine Portal unlocks powerful value from CAS data

Probe IMT, the value-added partner for Wabtec across Southern Africa, has welcomed the launch of the Wabtec Digital Mine Portal. This purpose-built software solution provides advanced analytics and actionable insights for Wabtec’s Collision Avoidance System (CAS) customers. Designed to enable faster, data-driven decisions, the Portal enhances reliability, safety and productivity, making it a gamechanger for mining operations across the region.
Now available for existing CAS customers, the implementation of the Digital Mine Portal builds upon Probe IMT’s successful deployment of Wabtec CAS Gen 3 systems at mines across Southern Africa. The Wabtec Digital Mine Portal serves as a centralised command centre for mining operations, providing new access to real-time data from Wabtec’s advanced CAS Gen 3 systems.
“The launch of the Wabtec Digital Mine Portal unlocks real value for CAS data, advancing collision prevention technologies and ensuring productive and safe mining operations,” said Marko Kotze, CTO of Probe IMT. “The Portal’s centralised architecture seamlessly integrates with existing mining infrastructure, giving operators full visibility across their entire fleet. With sophisticated analytics capabilities and advanced reporting, it provides actionable intelligence that supports strategic decision-making and operational optimisation, helping our mining partners achieve excellence while prioritising safety.”
Through the Portal’s interface, mining operations gain access to critical CAS data analysis, predictive maintenance insights and operational performance metrics. The system’s analytics engine processes vast amounts of operational data to identify trends, predict potential equipment issues and optimise fleet performance across diverse mining environments. It establishes a single point of interaction and collaboration for mines and their fleet; a one-stop shop for digital resources, technical documentation and access to dedicated support.
Pieter Smit, Product Manager for the Wabtec Digital Mine Portal, offered further insight into the benefits for mining clients: “Our best-in-class CAS Gen 3 Solution installed on your mining assets generates a massive amount of rich data, much of which often remains untapped. Teams struggle to extract meaningful insights to make quick and informed decisions—decisions that ultimately help manage safety and performance more proactively.
Safety is our top priority. The Portal delivers advanced analytics to identify potential risks before they become problems. The platform enables you to determine what interactions took place, where and when—helping to investigate why and ultimately understand the root cause of safety concerns on your site before they escalate into critical incidents.”
Smit explains CAS data is centralised and enriched with contextual information, breaking down information silos and providing a comprehensive view of the health and performance of CAS solutions, from the entire operation right down to individual interactions. “This is how rapid, informed decision-making becomes possible,” says Smit.
The new hybrid deployment model means that critical CAS operational components like device management, configuration and core health data remain on premises for low-latency and high reliability, while the Portal will progressively enhance reporting and insight capabilities in the cloud.
“CAS Web has served us well as a visualisation and reporting layer, but the future of mining operations demands more,” explains Smit. “CAS Web will be phased out by the end of 2026, with the Digital Mine Portal offering a superior platform for reporting, insights and operational intelligence.”
“Constant innovation is needed to achieve safer and more productive operations,” Kotze concludes. “The Wabtec Digital Mine Portal is a great leap forward in truly making CAS data truly a strategic asset.”
