Montage Gold acquires environmental permit for Koné Project

Montage Gold Corp. has achieved a significant milestone with the receipt of the Environmental Permit from the Ministry of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition of Côte d’Ivoire for its Koné project.

This permit, along with the support received from various government agencies and local communities, marks a crucial step forward in the project’s development. With the Environmental Permit secured, Montage has submitted mining permit applications for the Koné project, covering a significant area including the Koné deposit and the Gbongogo Main deposit. The company anticipates receiving all necessary permits and approvals for construction during the second half of 2024.

Environmental standards

The company’s CEO, Martino De Ciccio, expressed satisfaction with the progress made, highlighting the strong support from stakeholders and the positive impact the Koné project is expected to have on all involved parties. The endorsement from President Alassane Ouattara further underscores the commitment of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to the mining sector and the project’s potential benefits.

Montage’s successful collaboration with an independent environmental consultancy firm, CECAF, ensured compliance with environmental standards during the preparation of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA). The approval of the ESIA by various government agencies, following a validation hearing, further validates the project’s adherence to environmental regulations.

Montage Gold Corp. aims to become a premier African gold producer, starting with the Koné project in Côte d’Ivoire. With a robust feasibility study indicating favorable economics, including a long mine life and low all-in sustaining costs, the company is poised to deliver substantial value to its stakeholders.
