2nd edition of AMC 2023 slated for November

The 2nd edition of the Angolan Mining Conference & Exhibition (AMC) is scheduled to take place from November 22-23, 2023, in Luanda, Republic of Angola.

This event is organized by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum in collaboration with AME Trade Ltd. it serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration within the mining sector, with a particular focus on promoting Angola’s potential in critical mineral production and its role in the global clean energy transition.

The inaugural edition of the AMC occurred in 2019 and was inaugurated by His Excellency Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco, the President of The Republic of Angola. The theme of the first event was “Enhancing the National Mining Sector Potential through Investment and Diversification.” It witnessed the participation of 600 attendees, 80 speakers, and over 350 delegates from 25 different countries. These participants included government officials, industry stakeholders, and key decision-makers in the mining sector.

The primary theme for AMC 2023 will be “Developing Angola’s Mineral Resource Potential to Supply Critical Minerals for a Global Clean Energy Transition.” Angola is well-positioned to contribute to the production of critical minerals and plans to start producing neodymium, praseodymium, copper, and niobium, which are essential for manufacturing batteries for electric vehicles and other clean energy technologies. Angola boasts a significant portfolio of mineral resources, including 36 out of the 51 most critical minerals globally, such as chromium, cobalt, graphite, lead, lithium, and nickel.

AMC 2023 aims to be a key international event for attracting foreign investment and showcasing the Angolan government’s vision for the mining sector and broader economy. The conference serves as a dedicated platform for Angola’s mining industry to attract exploration partners, highlight projects along the mineral supply chain, and present new investment priorities of the government. The event encompasses a comprehensive program, including a thought-provoking conference, workshops, various social activities, and a co-located trade event.
